Chiefs Entertain Chargers DE

With questions along the defensive line in Kansas City, the Chiefs might be looking west to bring in a former San Diego Charger first round draft pick to bolster their defensive end position.
According to Kevin Acee with the San Diego Tribune the
Kansas City Chiefs
will get a visit from former Chargers defensive end, Luis Castillo. The San Diego standout was cut loose this week in a salary cap purge by the organization.
Castillo, who will be 29 years old this season, has been with the Chargers since being drafted in the first round back in 2005. The Chiefs are in need of a dominating pass rushing defensive end and Castillo if healthy could be a perfect fit for Romeo Crennel’s improving defense.
The problem for the Chiefs by entertaining Castillo is the fact he’s been a descending player the last several seasons. His production has dropped off and the Chargers felt he wasn’t worth the price to keep him on the roster.
And if the Chiefs sign Castillo, then that could mean Kansas City might part ways with one of their own defensive ends,
Glenn Dorsey
or
Tyson Jackson
. Dorsey is entering the final year of his rookie contract and Warpaint Illustrated has learned that the
Cleveland Browns
might have an interest in Dorsey should they fail to land free agent defensive end
Mario Williams
.
As for Jackson, he’s still underperformed based on his lofty draft slot three years ago. So it’s safe to say that should Castillo sign with the Chiefs and the organization continues to flirt with Quarterback Peyton Manning, Kansas City might be dumping more salaries in the very near future.
