Report: Milliner to have shoulder surgery

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder after this week's NFL Scouting Combine.

Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner will have surgery to repair his shoulder after this week's NFL Scouting Combine, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Milliner is projected to be one of the top cornerbacks in this year's NFL draft and most analysts/boards have him as a top five pick.

Schefter is reporting that Milliner will need surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but before that, he will compete in every workout drill in Indianapolis, except for the bench press.

Milliner's agent, Tony Fleming, told Schefter that Milliner will be "100 percent and fully recovered in time for training camp in July."

He will not be able to participate in Alabama's Pro Day on March 13.

In his final season, Milliner, thought of as a "shut down corner" (although Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban doesn't like to use that term), was tied for second in the nation in passes defended per game (1.69). He had 54 tackles, four for loss, two interceptions, 1 1/2 sacks and broke up 20 passes.

Earlier this week, Schefter reported that running back Eddie Lacy would not participate in the combine after suffering a minor hamstring injury. He is expected to compete during pro day. Center Barrett Jones (foot) and linebacker Nico Johnson (sports hernia) won't participate in workouts this week either.
