Chiefs Open Playoffs Saturday

With the NFL regular season in the rear view mirror, the Kansas City Chiefs learned Sunday night they will open the AFC playoffs Saturday, January 4th, against the Indianapolis Colts.

As the team flew back to Kansas City after their 27-24 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers, they found out they'll be the early game Saturday afternoon. In fact the two AFC teams, both finishing the regular season with matching 11-5 records, will open the NFL's Wild Card playoff weekend.

The game will be part of NBC's Saturday doubleheader and can be seen locally on KSHB TV 41 at 3:30 central time.

The game featuring two 11-5 teams is a rematch of week 16 where the Colts soundly defeated the Chiefs 23-7 at Arrowhead in a game that featured a season high four turnovers by Kansas City.

After sitting most of their starters Sunday afternoon against the Chargers, the Chiefs should be well rested. They will will also enter this playoff game with most, if not all, of their injured bodies available to face the Colts in the Wild Card round.

That means starting Linebackers Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, Wide Receiver, Dwayne Bowe, and left tackle, Branden Albert, should all be ready to go next Saturday.
