Trent Green Has Minor Procedure
No big deal Green will be just fine.

With reports running rampant that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green had minor surgery to correct numbness in his left leg, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Dick Vermeil made it clear that the procedure was like going to the Dentist.
Wednesday afternoon
Kansas City Chiefs
Head Coach Dick Vermeil shot down all the rumors that the minor surgery done on
Trent Green
was not serious.
Vermeil said he spoke with his starting quarterback before his post practice gathering with this players and said that he feels fine. In fact, Green will keep his weekly news conference with the media on Wednesday and he will address the surgery then.
For Vermeil he has to feel a sense of relief. But as he explained it to reporters this afternoon, the procedure was minor in nature and that should make fans feel better.
“He had a minor outpatient circulation correction that helped the situation to his foot,” Vermeil said. According to the Head Coach it was not a blood clot. “It was a minor problem and they fixed it,” Vermeil told reporters.
As for Friday night’s game against the St. Louis Rams, Vermeil plans on splitting time with back-up quarterback
Jonathan Quinn
and rookie
James Killian
. Quinn came off the couch a week ago to play nearly three quarters in last Saturday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Killian has only played in mop-up duty against the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals.
According to reports earlier in the week,
Todd Collins
was scheduled to be out another two weeks. However, when asked by reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Collins believes that he can begin practicing next week. That would be good news for the Chiefs as they begin preperation for the New York Jets on September 11th.
In other Chiefs News:
Back-up linebacker
Kris Griffin
told me that he will play in Friday night’s tilt against the St. Louis Rams. Griffin is on the bubble as he’s fighting for a roster spot with veteran
Gary Stills
.
It looks less likely that the Chiefs will add another kicker as
Lawrence Tynes
continues to kick the ball very well in practice.
In the light of the disaster claiming lives in New Orleans several Chiefs players including
Eddie Kennison
,
Ashley Ambrose
and
Patrick Surtain
have not heard from loved ones in Louisiana. For Surtain in particular he has a large group of his family in the area and it’s obvious that its hard for him and the rest of the players who are dealing with such uncertainty.
Coach Vermeil understands that it has to be a distraction on his players. “It’s beyond a disaster. For kids who have family down there it has to be a burden,” the Kansas City Head Coach said.
The Chiefs will have a walk-through practice tomorrow inside Arrowhead stadium in preparation for the Rams game. This will be the last game players who are on the bubble will get a chance to strut their stuff. On Saturday afternoon, the Chiefs will have to trim the roster down to 53 players at 5:00 central time.
Vermeil said that he spent a couple of hours today looking at the roster and there will be some very good football players who don’t make the final cuts.
