With twelve players to sign and the OTA sessions nearing an end this Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs began the long process of securing their draft picks by coming to terms with former Grand Valley State cornerback Brandon Carr, their fifth-round choice, on a three-year contract.
The four-year performer has been outstanding in team workouts the last month and has a legitimate shot to crack the starting lineup.
In an interview with Carr this week, he showed the same type of confidence he’s displayed on the football field through OTAs. He expects to make an impact on this team and could start the season in New England opposite second round pick
Brandon Flowers
.
Shortly after the draft, Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards told Warpaint Illustrated that one of the reasons he liked Carr so much was the coaching he received in college.

- The dialogue continues between the Chiefs and his agent. With running back
Darren McFadden
signing last week with the Oakland Raiders, the NFL now has three of the top five rookies under contact.
Prior to the start of the NFL draft in April, Michigan tackle
Jake Long
signed a five-year deal with Miami. Shortly after the draft Boston College quarterback
Matt Ryan
inked a long-term deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
Dorsey’s deal could hinge on how willing his agent is to compare the 2007 fifth overall selection with 2008’s. Former Penn State left tackle
Levi Brown
inked a deal worth $62 million with the Cardinals last year, with just over $18 million in guaranteed money.
Stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated for more offseason news on the Kansas City Chiefs.
