After signing a pair of draft picks Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs closed another deal with one of their third-round choices – safety DaJuan Morgan.

One of the biggest surprises in OTA sessions, Morgan was the last of KC's three third-round picks. He has quickly emerged as a player who might contribute significant minutes on defense this season. Thursday the Chiefs cut veteran Greg Wesley to make room for Morgan. He along with Bernard Pollard, Jarrad Page and Jon McGraw will round out the safety depth chart for Kansas City.

The Chiefs discovered Morgan when they were looking at defensive tackle Tank Tyler, whom they drafted in the third round last year. Morgan caught the eye of Head Coach Herm Edwards, who kept a mental note to look at him again this offseason.

Morgan's offseason rise, combined with a solid preseason, could eventually place him as a starter opposite Page. The North Carolina State product has speed and great instincts.

LT Branden Albert - Another NFL rumor making the rounds is that Albert will not be ready for training camp because of a sprained ankle. Our source indicates at the moment that he should be 100 percent ready to go when the team hits the practice field – without pads - one week from Friday.
