Wednesday afternoon the Kansas City Chiefs continued their plan to get all 12 of their draft choices signed and heading to River Falls on time. One of the bigger pieces of the draft, cornerback Brandon Flowers, agreed to a four-year deal, insuring that he’ll be at the team's first training camp practice Friday.

As we first told you Monday, the Chiefs were nearing a deal with Flowers. Now it's official, and the rookie will start opposite either veteran cornerback Patrick Surtain or fellow draftee Brandon Carr when KC hits the field in New England in September. Flowers comes to the NFL with an impressive college resume and the Chiefs are expecting big things from him.

The rookie was impressive in OTAs and Mini-Camp sessions as he bounced around from outside corner to inside corner depending on the defensive package. The advantage Flowers has over most, if not all of the corners drafted last April, is his ability to play Cover Two and his ability to play in the offensive backfield.

Flowers is a thinking man's cornerback. His game preparation in college included hours of film study. In the NFL that translates to being a winner.

In Other Chiefs News:

The team appears close to a deal with first-round pick Branden Albert. The two sides were close late Wednesday and from all accounts, Albert will be on the team charter.

As for defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, our source reports that the Chiefs might be closer to a deal with him than they were Monday, when we were told his holdout could last until the team's first or second preseason game. But it appears from all accounts that some progress was made.

There is still time to get a deal done and anything is possible. Dorsey’s agent, Joel Segal, is one of the best at his craft so if he feels the numbers are right they’ll likely try to strike a last minute deal. If not, this could go on for another week or two.
