WPI Fantasy League: Championship Week It’s the final showdown in the WPI fantasy league. Let’s see who took home the top honors.

Our Members:

- Michael Ash of WPI (We Play To Win The Game)
- Nick Athan of WPI (Warpaint Pubs)
- Adam Best of ArrowheadAddict.com (Arrowhead Addicts)
- Darren Carter of WPI (Sphinx Domination)
- Pat Clifton of WPI (Team Pat Is God)
- Topher Dean of WPI (Waste of Space)
- Chris Thorman of ArrowheadPride.com (Arrowhead Pride)
- C.E. Wendler of WPI (The Runnamuckers)

Consolation Bracket - Seventh Place Game:

Arrowhead Pride (73.50)
Team Pat is God (72.46)

Larry Johnson led all scorers for Arrowhead Pride, who just squeaked by with the victory. Pat got 35 points from Peyton Manning, but it wasn’t enough to avoid last place.

Consolation Bracket - Fifth Place Game:

Warpaint Pubs (104.58)
Arrowhead Addicts (75.58)

An explosion by Warpaint Pubs saw Tony Romo, Marques Colston, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Dallas Clark all score more than 16 points. For Arrowhead Addicts, a disappointing five-point game from Brett Favre sealed the defeat.

Championship Bracket - Third Place Game:

Sphinx Domination (116.78)
We Play To Win The Game (106.76)

After a month of disappointing scores, I finally managed to produce a total above 80 thanks in large part to 45 points from the Cutler-to-Marshall combo and 27 points from Brandon Jacobs. It was my best scoring output since Week 10, but it just wasn’t enough in the end.

The 35 points rung up by Philip Rivers led all scorers in this contest, but it was the combined 41 points from the trio of Wes Welker, Larry Fitzgerald, and Terrell Owens that helped Sphinx Domination grab the victory.

Championship Bracket - First Place Game:

Waste of Space (97.90)
The Runnamuckers (83.00)

The Runnamuckers’ misfortunes began at the top, as Kurt Warner only produced a single point during the Cardinals’ embarrassing performance in the New England snow. But the real misery came in the backfield, where Thomas Jones and Marshawn Lynch combined for just 14 points – less than half of the 34 posted by DeAngelo Williams, who was wrapped up in a blanket, sipping hot cocoa, all warm and snug on C.E.’s bench.

On the flipside of the snow game, Waste of Space got a strong 36 points from Matt Cassel. And even though some of Topher’s key scorers – Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, and Adrian Peterson – came up rather small in Week 16, solid games from Eddie Royal and Pierre Thomas helped Waste of Space cruise to the title.

Final Standings:
1. Waste of Space 12-4-0 1327.18
2. The Runnamuckers 10-6-0 1392.14
3. Sphinx Domination 10-6-0 1447.30
4. We Play To Win The Game 10-6-0 1407.80
5. Warpaint Pubs 7-9-0 1198.26
6. Arrowhead Addicts 6-10-0 1339.52
7. Arrowhead Pride 5-11-0 1032.62
8. Team Pat is God 4-12-0 983.04

Congratulations to our own Topher Dean for winning the inaugural Warpaint Illustrated fantasy football championship. And a special thanks to everyone who followed the action this season.
