The Kansas City Chiefs waived DE Brian Johnston, the team announced on Wednesday. Johnston played in nine games in 2008, recording three solo tackles and one special teams stop.

Johnston was selected in the seventh round of the 2008 draft by the Chiefs. It's a bit surprising he was let go by the Chiefs at this juncture, but it could be that the new coaching staff didn't think Johnston fit in with the expected move to a 3-4 defensive scheme.
