The Kansas City Chiefs have signed TE Jake O’Connell, the team announced on Friday. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but a league source said it's likely a three-year deal worth roughly $1.3 million.

O’Connell (6-3, 250) joined the Chiefs as the club’s second of three seventh-round selections (237th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played in 41 games (13 starts) at Miami (Ohio). He caught 46 passes for 453 yards (9.8 avg.) with four TDs to go with seven special teams tackles.

O’Connell saw duty in 12 games (seven starts) in 2008 for the RedHawks. He posted a career-high 25 receptions for 258 yards (10.3 avg.). He also registered three special teams tackles.
