The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent G Ryan Lilja, the team announced.

Lilja (6-2, 290) has played in 66 games (59 starts) in six seasons with Indianapolis (2004-09). He also started eight playoff games with the Colts, including Super Bowls XLI and XLIV. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Kansas City in 2004.

A source told that Lilja failed a team physical with the Colts on March 8.

The Kansas City, Missouri native saw action in 23 games (14 starts) in two seasons at Kansas State University, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors as a senior. He began his collegiate career at Coffeyville (KS) Community College. Lilja prepped at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Lilja could potentially start at right guard this season for the Chiefs.
