Donnie Edwards was acquired by the Chargers as an unrestricted free agent during the 2002 offseason. He was originally drafted by Kansas City in fourth round of 1996 NFL Draft, 98th overall.
NFL
In 2004, Edwards again had a Pro Bowl worthy season, but was left off the ballot. He recorded 185 tackles with four interceptions and two forced fumbles.
Edwards has had a stellar carer with Kansas City prior to 2002. Edwards averaged more than 148 tackles a season over the last five years as he became the first player in Chiefs history to surpass the 100-tackle mark in five straight years and leading the team in tackles in 4 straight years. Edwards has added 10 interceptions, 15 sacks and three touchdowns. He may be the most underrated linebacker in the league as he has not seen a Pro Bowl berth despite being a superstar.
College
Collected 254 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 38 tackles for a loss, 12 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and six interceptions during his career at UCLA. He ranked third in school history in career tackles for loss and fifth in sacks. |
