College: Four-year letterman at Maryland (2001-04) finished his career as the leading scorer in ACC history and tied for 5th in NCAA Division I-A history with 393 career points on 80-of-107 FGs and 153-of-159 PATs. Semifinalist for Lou Groza Award (nation's best kicker) as a sophomore and junior after ranking among the country's top 25 in FGs and scoring in those seasons. As a fifthyear senior, finished 16-of-22 on FGs and hit all 21 PATs totaling 69 points receiving honorable mention All-ACC. Received Jim Tatum Award which goes to the ACC's top senior student-athlete. Earned first-team All-ACC honors as a senior after tallying 110 points on 24-of-32 FGs and 38-of-42 PATs. Tied school record with 54-yard FG against Duke. As a junior, received first-team All- ACC accolades after setting school record with 24 FGs and 125 points. Finished season going 24- of-28 on FGs and 53-of-54 on PATs. Paced ACC and was 5th in the NCAA with 1.71 FGs per game. Nailed 8-of-10 FGs beyond 40 yards and 3-of-4 kicks over 50 yards. Starting kicker in all 11 games plus the Orange Bowl as sophomore and was an honorable mention All-ACC selection. Named a second-team freshman All-American by The Sporting News after hitting 16-of-25 FGs and 41-of-42 PATs for 89 points. Redshirted as a freshman. Majored in kinesiology.

Personal: Three-year letter winner and 2-time first-team all-state choice at Albemarle H.S. in Charlottesville, Va., earning All-State honors following his sophomore and senior seasons. Son of Julie and Bob Novak who are both professors at Purdue and taught at the University of Virginia while Nick was a prep.
