Biography:
Pro
2009 outlook: Is it any wonder why Collins (5-foot-11, 207 pounds) wants a new contract? He’s coming off of a season in which he tied for the NFC lead with seven interceptions to become the Packers’ first Pro Bowl starting safety since Darren Sharper in 2002. He returned a league-high three of those for touchdowns and finished second on the team with 99 tackles, all while battling through some nagging bumps and bruises that led to a five-game streak with no interceptions. Obviously, for a player who had only four interceptions in his first three seasons — including none in 2007 — you have to wonder whether he’s capable of producing anything close to an encore performance.

2007: A knee injury Nov. 4 at Kansas City caused him to miss three games – Minnesota (Nov. 11), Carolina (Nov. 18), and Detroit (Nov. 22). ... Finished with 62 tackles (45 solo) and six passes defensed. He had no interceptions after making three in 2006 and one as a rookie in ’05.

2006: Saved his best for last, making two interceptions in Green Bay’s victory over Chicago on Dec. 31. ... Often was nowhere to be found for most of the season. Collins was beaten in coverage many times, especially early in the season, and simply lacked making any big plays. ... Finished fifth on the team in tackles with 102, one behind Marquand Manuel, and had 16 passes defensed, third on the team behind Charles Woodson and Al Harris.

2005: Had an outstanding rookie season. ... Second-best defensive back behind Al Harris. ... Fourth on the team with 96 tackles and third with 9 passes defensed. ... Had just one interception but dropped a few other potential pickoffs. ... Selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of NFL Draft, 51st overall.

College
In 34 games with the Wildcats, Collins registered 144 tackles (79 solos), a 6-yard sack and 31/2 stops for losses of 23 yards while starting 23 games. He recovered three fumbles and caused another. ... Had 30 pass deflections and 13 interceptions for 192 yards in returns with two touchdowns. He also gained 215 yards on 10 kickoff returns (21.5 avg.).

High School
Lettered as a defensive back and running back at Dixie County (Cross City, Fla.) High School, playing football for coach Brett Wilkerson. Also lettered in basketball and track.
